Hoboken, Home to Baseball, Dry cleaners & Houses of Worship

Hoboken, New Jersey, United States.

ONE SQUARE MILE is not exactly expansive for a whole town, but in these parts it’s seemingly the going square footage for like-minded towns along Hudson & Bergen Counties Gold Coast.  More interesting is that in my exaggeration there are perhaps one dry cleaners per 100 residents and one church all the same.  Have you counted anything lately?  Have you seen Super Star Super Bowl Quarterback Eli Manning strolling about?  Try again.  Have you counted anything lately?  Have you seen Super Star Super Bowl Quarterback Eli Manning strolling about?  Try again.

Lucky me!  While counting pavements and grates drives me nuts and stepping on cracks…I’ve yet to count any addable anything in Hoboken.  Eyeing Eli is easy from afar, just look for a gangly Super Bowl Quarterback with a highly qualified Super Bowl Quarterback brother jetting about the country interviewing prospective employers, no pun intended, but sugarhoneyicedtea&cocotoo, give me a jet and I’m bound to find a real job that pays well too;  and you too might catch an Eli with a few Hail Mary‘s yourself.  Yes, I said it.

Back to the story.

Lucky me.  Sunday March 11, 2012 I worshipped at St. Ann’s Church of Hoboken.  With each new house of worship visited an impressive alluring detail is taken away, as was the case of choir vocalist Mr. Jeremy Beck, wow what a seductive voice!   This was the most romancing of a worship performance I’d witnessed in decades or EVER, thanks to this vocal talent!   While Teddy Pendergrass and Barry White were sexy cool, Luther Vandross and Jeremy Beck are magically smooth.  Though the name Jeremy might sound out of character in the secular world, in delivering the word the voice is in tune.  A hugging soft melodic voice that Gladys’ Pips would probably have to gig elsewhere, no backups necessary here.  Oh, and about that church service, St. Ann at 704 Jefferson, Hoboken, NJ,  is as warm and fuzzy a congregation you might find on Sundays.  I’m affable at the drop of a dime and so were they, why don’t you witness it for yourself.  And hey, if Jeremy Beck should provide a proper concert performance in the near future, I’ll be sure to post!

Thank you for reading and enjoy your Sundays doing something you like. 🙂
